Faridabad Excursion Expat Essentials

When I heard Expat Essentials offers an excursion to the Faridabad countryside, I was very surprised. I don’t associate green spaces with that dusty, bustling city!

Although I was a little skeptical at first, we soon left the city behind and were surrounded by green fields all around us--crops of corn and wheat, flowers, cows, horses and farmhouses-it was a lovely scene. This is a great area for birding too. We saw cranes, a Kingfisher, and many other beautiful birds which I could not name.

We also saw a huge Komodo dragon cross in front of us while driving down a country road.

We pulled over to see a good view of the Yamuna. I had seen the Yamuna before but it wasn’t very attractive. Here, we could see cows below us wading in the water. All of the noise from the city disappeared as we watched them in silence.

At another location we came across a little brick factory where bricks sat piled up around a small kiln.

We stopped to see a family with a small pottery business making decorated clay pots and diyas. Horses sat in the field while a few camels looked us over and proceeded to eat their lunch of green leaves from the nearby trees. We watched as the family demonstrated their craft, shaping the pots from clay. I bought several of these pretty pots to gift to my friends…

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The car was comfortable and we were offered many cold drinks to ward off the heat.

Take this trip if you want a retreat from city life. Enjoy an area of Faridabad you perhaps never knew about! A lunch is also offered at the end, in a Faridabad shopping plaza with many restaurants to choose from.

The fact that my patronage supported employment for youth in an under-served area of Faridabad was another plus for this enjoyable outing. I highly recommend this tour!
