A few examples of destinations to choose from and what makes them special
Jaipur: The vibrant capital of Rajasthan, known for its grand palaces, forts, and iconic pink architecture. It's one of the few places in India where you can encounter elephants up close. Did you know that Jaipur, along with Ajmer and Sambhar, is also a great destination for birdwatching? You might even spot pelicans near the Jal Mahal (Water Palace).
While Jaipur has many popular tourist spots, we recommend skipping the crowded attractions and focusing on 1 or 2 key sites. We'll drive by some of the well-known palaces, but we’d rather take you to experience the serene life around the Amer region, just outside Jaipur. Explore the peaceful Elephant Stables and the unique charm of Amer for a truly authentic experience.
If you prefer shopping, Jaipur is also known for its vibrant markets, where you can find exquisite textiles, handcrafted jewelry, traditional pottery, and beautiful block-printed fabrics. The bustling Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar offer a wide range of unique Rajasthani handicrafts and souvenirs, making it the perfect place to pick up something special to remember your trip.
Remote village near Dausa:
Before reaching Jaipur, we offer you the opportunity to visit—or even stay the night in—a remote village near Dausa, just 60 kilometers outside of Jaipur. We have a local contact who owns a comfortable house with a bathroom and is eager to host you, subject to availability.
This experience gives you a rare chance to immerse yourself in authentic Rajasthani village life. Stroll through the village, enjoy a cup of chai with the locals, and truly connect with the traditions and rhythms of rural Rajasthan. It’s a peaceful and enriching stop that offers a unique perspective on local culture.
Ajmer
Ajmer, located at the foothills of the Aravalli Range, is a city surrounded by natural beauty and scenic landscapes. With its tranquil Anasagar Lake offering a peaceful retreat, Ajmer is a great place to unwind and enjoy the outdoors. The lake is ideal for a leisurely stroll along its boulevard, with picturesque views of the surrounding hills and gardens.
Ajmer’s natural charm extends beyond the lake, with nearby hills and green spaces perfect for exploration. The region is also a great spot for birdwatching, offering glimpses of local and migratory species in its serene environment. If you’re looking to escape the crowds and experience the quieter, more natural side of Rajasthan, Ajmer is an excellent choice.
Sambhar
Sambhar is home to India’s largest inland salt lake, a striking natural wonder that stretches over 230 square kilometers. The vast salt flats create a unique, almost surreal landscape, perfect for those seeking something off the beaten path. The lake is also a haven for birdwatchers, with flamingos and other migratory birds flocking to the area, offering a rare opportunity to see these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.
Beyond the lake, Sambhar offers peaceful rural surroundings, where you can enjoy the tranquility of nature and the beauty of Rajasthan’s countryside. Whether you’re visiting the salt lake or simply relaxing at a nearby resort, Sambhar provides an unforgettable blend of natural beauty, wildlife, and calm.
Sariska Tiger Reserve
Nestled in the Aravalli Hills, Sariska Tiger Reserve is a beautiful and serene wildlife sanctuary known for its diverse flora and fauna. The reserve is home to the majestic Bengal tiger, and it offers a rare opportunity to spot these elusive creatures in their natural habitat. Apart from tigers, Sariska is rich in wildlife, including leopards, hyenas, wild boars, and a variety of bird species, making it a great destination for nature and wildlife enthusiasts.
The landscape of Sariska is equally captivating, with dense forests, rugged hills, and dry deciduous forests providing the perfect setting for a peaceful retreat into nature. With well-marked safari trails, visitors can enjoy thrilling wildlife encounters while soaking in the scenic beauty of the reserve. Sariska is an ideal spot for those seeking adventure, wildlife, and a deeper connection with Rajasthan’s natural world.
And Many More Places to Explore...
Rajasthan is a land of endless discovery, where each corner is rich with history, culture, and natural beauty. From the majestic forts and palaces of Jaipur and to the Keoladeo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in Bharatpur, there is so much to see and experience.
